Organised by the VTC Design Alumni Association, the "Arm Knitting Bag Workshop" was successfully held on 21 June 2025 at the Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI). Featuring "finger knitting" techniques, the workshop allowed alumni to experience the pure joy of handcrafting, free from the constraints of tools.
To their delight, participants discovered that "fingers make the nimblest crochet hooks!" Under the guidance of professional instructor, they mastered techniques such as Stockinette Stitch Jersey, Rib Stitch, and Interlock Stitch – all brought to life through the dance of their fingertips. Some meticulously crafted intricate patterns, while others improvised unique designs, each piece reflecting its maker’s individuality.
The event drew alumni from different graduating years, with some bringing their children along. The children’s boundless creativity paired perfectly with their parents’ technical know-how, making it a heartwarming and engaging family experience.
Beyond the hands-on craft session, the workshop also offered alumni a nostalgic return to campus life. For those who had never studied at HKDI, it was a special opportunity to explore the institute’s vibrant design culture firsthand.
