The Alistair Harvey Foundation Scholarship Alumni Association (AHFSAA) hosted a Hong Kong–style hotpot dinner in Hong Kong on Friday, 12 December 2025. Alumni scholars reunited with Mr John Ruddy, the Trust Protector of the AHFS, for an early Christmas celebration that made for a warm and memorable end to the year.
Established in 2004, AHFS supports academically bright and talented VTC students with scholarships to pursue further studies and cultural exchanges in the United Kingdom. The scholarships aim to help students realise their aspirations and broaden their life experiences. To date, over 200 students have benefited from this generous donation with the Foundation awarding HK$100 million in scholarships. Each year, Mr Ruddy visits Hong Kong to conduct selection interviews with scholarship candidates. Additionally, he regularly contacts scholars, showing genuine care for their academic and personal development. This ongoing commitment has fostered mentor-like friendships that transcend age and distance.
During the reunion dinner, alumni scholars shared personal and professional updates, and discussed how to navigate new challenges and strengthen adaptability amid social change. Despite a busy interview schedule, Mr Ruddy made time to meet the alumni and encouraged them to face every stage of life with courage, reminding them that bold attempts can open the way to one’s own path.
In the spirit of the festive season, AHFSAA prepared gifts and handwritten cards to thank Mr. Ruddy for his long-standing care and support. The event brought alumni from different cohorts together, filling the evening with laughter and warmth. It not only continued the tradition of reunion but also conveyed the precious values of passing on friendship and goodwill. VTC Alumni Relations wishes all alumni continue to uphold a spirit of gratitude and giving back, working alongside VTC to create more inspiring stories.
