Athletes can open up new horizons after retirement. VTC alumnus Roy Cheng, a former athlete in Dragon-Boat racing, shared his story as an example.
Roy had represented Hong Kong to take part in international dragon-boat races before. Retired after injuries, and advised by a family member, Roy decided to go back to school. He took the programmes in YC, IVE and THEi successively, and attained the qualification of Sports Therapist accredited by The Society of Sports Therapists, U.K.
It is his dream to make use of his professional knowledge in supporting rehabilitation for athletes. So, he founded Athlete Hub two years ago, and set up a studio to provide services in rehabilitation training and sports therapy for athletes. They co-operate with different schools to promote physical fitness. Roy aims to improve the support for rehabilitation of athletes in Hong Kong, thus extending career for those with potential. He encourages his fellows to never give up on pursuing dreams.
