‘The fondness for basketball is what we have in common, and it connects VTC students and alumni among three generations,’ said Chan Ching Wai, an IVE alumnus.
On the basketball court of IVE (Haking Wong), we experienced the magic of basketball matches: players competing passionately, audience cheering enthusiastically. We also witnessed the three generations of VTC alumni and students who extended their gratitude to alma mater, and passed on the giving back spirit in supporting the younger fellows through joining hands with IVE (Haking Wong) Basketball Team.
Among them, a group of 1980s alumni graduated at Haking Wong Technical Institute gathered for a reunion at their alma mater. They put on their jerseys for a friendly basketball match with the younger fellows. To encourage students to learn better skills and broaden their horizons, one of the alumni, Mr Terence Ng, made generous donation to the Basketball Team in supporting the overseas exchange tour. Bringing team members for competitions and exchanges with overseas higher education institutions, physical fitness and team spirit could be strengthened, and basketball skills could be improved.
Two alumni graduated in the 2000s, who are a basketball coach and a Strength & Conditioning coach, also joined the tour. They gave support to the team by contributing their professional knowledge; giving advice to improve players’ skills and performance.
Munificent donation made and selfless devotion of time by alumni enlightened the next generation of the basketball team. The three generations of alumni and students realized their common aspiration: giving back to the team and the VTC.
